Kinlochleven Power (KLL)

Kinlochleven is a hydro dam at Lochaber near Fort William and an extension project (Black Water Dam scheme) which is under construction. The dam and power station were originally commissioned in 1909, but the original turbines were replaced between 1996 and 2001. Both the hydro dam scheme and the Black Water Dam project are expected to have an operational life of at least 40 years.

Revenue comes from the generation and sale of renewable energy and renewable obligation certificates (ROCs). The generating capacity of the hydro dam is 24.5 MWe and the Black Water Dam project has a capacity of 737 kWe. The hydro dam scheme benefits from ROCs and the Black Water Dam project will be eligible for a Guaranteed Export Tariff.

The hydro dam is operated and maintained by SIMEC Lochaber Hydropower 2 and the Black Water Dam project will be operated by SIMEC GHR. Equitix Fund VI is 100% shareholder.
